Goddess of Fate: Klotho

In ancient Greek and Roman mythology, human life was believed to be determined by the length of woven threads.

Especially, Clotho, who held the spindle and reel, played a crucial role in shaing the fate of humans.

Clotho is recognize as the youngest goddess of fate, responsible for pivotal decisions such as the birth of a person.

Skin Aging Inhibitor, Klotho

Klotho protein is a representative ‘Anti-aging Protein’ named after the goddess of fate, ‘Clotho’. Klotho is mainly secreted in the brain and kidneys. It circulates in the blood and inhibits the aging of organs.

Special stem cells (Stem Cell)

Klotho protein is rarely secreted by general stem cells derived from fat, bone marrow, and umblical cord. EHL BIO discovered a substantial quantity of Klotho protein in stem cells derived from healthy human kidneys, securing substance and application patents.

Klosome (Anti-aging Exosome)

Klosome is a “special stem cell exosome” that not only possesses the regenerative capabilities of stem cell exosomes, shielding and revitalizing the skin against diverse stresses, but also incorporates the anti-aging potency of Klotho.

KLOTHO : Our body’s anti-aging hormone

Klotho protein, primarily secreted by the brain and kidneys, stands as a representative ‘anti-aging protein’. ‘It plays a pivotal role in supressing aging across various organs of the human body, circulating through the bloodstream.

Discovery of the Klotho gene

The Klotho gene was discovered in 1997, marked by observations in mice lacking Klotho gene. The mice displayed signs of multiple organ failure and a shortened lifespan, mirroring characteristics of premature human aging.

Cellular Expression Characteristics of Klotho

klotho is predominantly expressed in specific cells of the kidney and brain, with limited expression observed in cells of other organ.

Structure and role of klotho protein

Klotho protein exists in two forms, membrane-bound type attached to the cell membrane and an externally secreted form. It is expressed both as Klotho on the cell membrane and as externally secreted secretory Klotho.

Klotho's biological function as the 'anti-aging hormone'

Secretory Klotho plays a crucial role in inhibiting aging, exhibiting antifibrotic and promoting cell growth by regulating insulin-like growth factor (IGF) and wint(Wnt) signaling pathways.

Additionally, Klotho serves to protec cells death and alleviating oxidative stress.
